On September 1st, 2025, Zespół Szkół nr 5 im. Maksymiliana Tytusa Hubera in Wałbrzych hosted a special event combining the official opening of the new school year with the inauguration of the Sectoral Skills Centre. The ceremony gathered numerous distinguished guests – representatives of the city and regional authorities, the Ministry of Education, local institutions, businesses, and partner organisations.

The event was an excellent opportunity to showcase the wide range of initiatives implemented by the school, including international educational projects. Among them, a key highlight was the Erasmus+ project “Fashion-Up – Upcycling for Fashion and Sustainability”, in which the school is one of the Polish partners.

During the celebration, students and teachers presented the project’s achievements – educational materials and creative examples of upcycling in fashion developed within the European partnership. Guests could learn how the school integrates the ideas of sustainability, innovation in vocational education, and entrepreneurship in the creative industries.

The newly opened Sectoral Skills Centre marks an important step in strengthening the school’s educational infrastructure. The institution consistently combines the development of modern technologies with international cooperation – and projects such as Fashion-Up enable both students and teachers to broaden their horizons, gain European experience, and develop future-oriented competences in practice.

The Fashion-Up project is implemented in partnership with organisations from Italy, Portugal, Spain, Greece, and Poland. Its main goal is to develop a European training toolkit promoting sustainable fashion, upcycling, and education for the green economy.
